Bird poop is really several things at once
A fresh bird dropping can look like somebody mixed two or three different substances together.
That is basically what happened.
The darker green, brown, or black part is fecal material from the digestive tract. The white or cream part is mostly urates produced after the kidneys process nitrogen waste. You may also see clear liquid around the dropping.
All of it usually leaves through the cloaca at about the same time.
Why are urates white?
Animals need a way to get rid of nitrogen left over from breaking down proteins and other compounds.
Humans turn much of that nitrogen into urea and remove it in watery urine. Birds rely heavily on uric acid and related urate salts instead. These can leave the body in a thick paste or semi-solid form.
That pale material is what gives a typical bird dropping its white splash.
It also saves water. That matters when you are a small animal that flies, lives outdoors, and cannot always stop for a drink.
Is the white part actually bird pee?
In everyday language, it is fair to think of the white urates as part of the bird's urinary waste.
But bird waste does not separate as neatly as ours. Urates, feces, and some liquid urine often leave together. That is why asking whether the white stuff is "pee" can be both right and a little misleading.

Why is the middle sometimes green or brown?
The darker part comes from food moving through the digestive system.
Its colour can change with diet. A bird eating berries may produce a very different dropping from one eating seeds, insects, fish, or meat.
That means bird droppings do not all look the same. Not even close.
Colour alone can vary for perfectly ordinary reasons, although unusual droppings in a pet bird are a different situation and belong with an avian veterinarian rather than a backyard bird guide.
Why can bird poop look watery?
There can be liquid urine around the feces and urates, and the amount changes.
Birds that take in a lot of water may produce wetter droppings. Hummingbirds are an extreme example because nectar brings a tremendous amount of water along with the sugar. Their bodies have to get rid of that extra water quickly while keeping body mass low enough for flight.
Fruit can also add water to a bird's diet.
So a wet splash does not automatically mean the white material somehow melted. A normal dropping can contain solid, paste-like, and liquid portions together.
Why does bird poop stick to cars and windows?
Anyone who has parked under a crow roost knows this question.
Urates and uric acid are not especially water-soluble. Once a dropping dries, the residue can cling firmly to paint, glass, siding, patio furniture, and almost anything else unlucky enough to be underneath.
Fresh droppings are generally easier to rinse away than old, baked-on ones.
Do all birds have white poop?
Most familiar birds produce pale urates, but the exact look of the dropping varies by species, diet, hydration, and how recently the bird ate or drank.
Some droppings are mostly white. Others have an obvious dark center. Some are surprisingly colourful after a berry-heavy meal.
The basic pattern is still the same: digestive waste and urinary waste commonly leave together.
Does white bird poop save weight for flying?
The water-saving part is important, and avoiding a constantly full bladder can be handy for an animal built around flight.
But it is better not to turn that into a single tidy story that says birds evolved white poop only because they fly. Reptiles also use uric acid, and bird ancestry matters here too.
Biology is usually messier than a one-line explanation.
